SOUTH WALES AND THE BORDER IN THE FOURTEENTH CENTURY by PROFESSOR WILLIAM REES The University of Wales Press is pleased to announce that it is now the exclusive distributor for the original 1933 edition of the above named maps by the late Professor William Rees. They are a compilation of numerous sources, unpublished and published, including the work he published in his many books and articles. They are an extraordinary achievement, giving, in effect, an 'Ordnance Survey' map of the fourteenth century. Details shown include boundaries, from the Domains of Marcher Lords to Sub-lordships, Manors and Boroughs, Church possessions, from those of the Bishop of the Diocese, to Monastic Houses; private estates, Knight's Fief held by Welsh tenure; the extent and position of towns and villages; the location of buildings, from Castles to Windmills, and from Cathedrals to Hospitals; the routes of roads and dykes. These maps have never been equalled. The complete sets of four sheets (NW., NE., SW. and SE.) are available in paper form, printed in four colours and measuring approximately 750 x 950 mm, and may be ordered through booksellers at £ 7.50 per set. In case of difficulty you may order direct from the address below, and cheques must be sent with order, made out to 'University of Wales Press', for £ 8.50 per set, which includes postage and packing (delivered in rolls). Stocks are limited and early ordering is recommended. UNIVERSITY OF WALES PRESS 6 GWENNYTH STREET, CATHAYS, CARDIFF CF2 4YD
