Find on Pendinas, Aberystwyth. Mr. D. J. Saer, Aberystwyth, reports:- On Monday, 15th February, 1926, a schoolboy (Master Morley Price) gave me a piece of copper that he had found on Pendinas on the previous Saturday. He had found it among the small stones near the monument. It is a metal object of spear-head or arrow-head form of the following dimensions :-length 1.1 inch; width, .85 inch; thickness .495 inch. The under side is flat and the upper side curved. The shank appears to have been broken off, the part of it now left being .55 inches long and .45 inches wide. The whole surface has been rather deeply puckered by the chemical influence of air and soil; but the outline is particularly well-balanced and of a perfect spear or arrow-head shape. The distance from the point to either barb end is .985 inch. The spear-head is in my possession. I shall be pleased to present it to the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Society whenever the Society has a museum where collections of Cardiganshire antiquities can be put into safe keeping. At the moment one must restrain oneself from theorising about this find; but, in view of the opinion of the late Sir Edward Anwyl, expressed in the Archaeologia Cambrensis some years ago that Pendinas was an encampment of the Bronze Age, for there was a tradition that a bronze implement had once been found there, all traces of which had been lost, it is interesting that the keen eyes of a boy, stimulated to intelligent observation by school visits to Pendinas, should discover an object which tends to confirm Sir Edward's opinion. I drilled some filings from the spear head for Dr. T. C. James, Professor of Chemistry at the University College of Wales, Aberyst- wyth, who kindly tested them. He reports that he found no trace of tin in the filings which appear to consist of pure copper. This adds considerably to the interest of the find.
