Dr. Pughe does not say how this letter came into his possession, but I see no reason for doubting its genuineness, and if it is genuine it is conclusive. The John Evans who superintended the Bible of 1769 was a member of the Society of Cymmrodorion the only John Evans who was a member of it was the rector of Eglwys Cymyn therefore he and not the Cardiganshire John Evans was the man. Perhaps a short note on the work of two local binders at Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn, who flourished about a century ago, may possess some interest. The first of these is T. John I Bookbinder I Cardigan,' whose neat label appears in a few books here at Llangoed- more.
