Cylchgronau Cymru

A Vanished Alignment of Standing Stones by BERNARD MORRIS. FAMILIAR, BUT PUZZLING FEATURES of the archaeological scene in Gower, are the standing-stones (meini hirion)-massive, erect slabs of native stone which occur frequently in the western half of the Peninsula. These stones are generally accepted to have been raised by either Neolithic or Bronze Age people, about three thousand five hundred years ago. Limited excavation in Gower (and elsewhere) has failed as yet to establish, with certainty, their date or purpose.
