The figures in Table II have been derived by adopting the method of Yelling who expressed stocking capacity on the basis of livestock units where the index figure of 1.0 represents the feed requirements of one cow. On this basis, horses have been assigned the value of 1.0, sheep and lambs 0.1, oxen, bullocks and steers 1.2, other cattle 0.8 and pigs 0.11°. The numbers refer to the livestock situation on January 1st of each year.
