Reproduced with the permission of Miss Glenys Lloyd of Llanfyllin. association with the fashionable squires, Bell Lloyd of Bodfach and John Humffreys of Llwyn. It was not until Michaelmas 1793 that the Courts Leet were held, once more, in the Guildhall. John Pentyrch Williams, in the Borough Guide of c. 1905, described the structure as 'a commodious building of no architectural pretensions. The upper portion is the Guildhall or Council Chamber and the Court of Justice'.64 Richard Haslam, on the other hand, has described it as 'a delightful building with arches below for the market and a room 45 ft. by 20 ft. for the petty sessions etc., over. It had a hipped roof'.65 Figure 5 is a photograph, taken just before the building's demolition, of the front elevation of the building showing Yenn's design and also the later addition at the east end; the photograph 64J.
