THE LATE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR DAVID BRYNMOR JONES, K.C., P.C. IN MEMORIAM A NOTE BY E. VINCENT EVANS. DAVID BRYNMOR Jones was the eldest son of the late Rev. Thomas Jones, a former pastor of Bedford Chapel in London, and one time President of the Congregational Union of England and Wales. Thomas Jones, born in 1819 at Rhayader-on-the-Wye, was brought up by his grandfather, a small freeholder living at Llandderw, near by. He was apprenticed to a cloth weaver of the name of Winstone, who resided at Llanwrtyd. With his master he attended the services of the Calvinistic Methodists, with whom a little later he commenced to preach. At eighteen years of age he moved to Brynmawr in Monmouthshire, where for a time he was engaged in coal-mining and check-weighing. Preaching at first with the Methodists at Llanelly he found reasons for changing his views with regard to some of the fundamental doctrines of "The C.M. Confession of Faith (Cyffes Ffydd), and he joined the Congregationalists, with whom he worked and preached until his death. After a short stay at "Hermon and Tabor near Llandilo, be undertook the pastorate of Libanus Church, Morriston, and as "Jones Treforris became known throughout Wales as a preacher of great eloquence and originality. In 1858 he came to London and ministered at Albany Chapel, Regent's Park, and afterwards at Bedford Chapel in Camden Town, where according to Dr. Hannay he made all his hearers one in
