He bequeathed a very '' valuable collection of books and manuscripts, " chiefly relating to the history, language, and "manners of his native country, to his patron, " Lord Macclesfield. According to the parish '•register, he was buried at St. Mary's, Bridgwater, " March 2nd, 1742." Surely there must be some trace of this famous Vicar, in the parish of Defyn- nook—either in books, or manuscripts, or the parochial records. Alpjehus. QUERIES. BRECONSHIRE AUTHORS.—I lately came across the following reference to a book of travels :— " The Voyages and Travels of William Owm Gwyn "Vaughan, published in London in 1736, in two " duo. volumes, and published again at Dublin in " 1754, in one volume duo." Can any of your readers say whether this work was by one of the Breconshire Gwynne-Vaughans, and whether there is a copy of the book in any of our local or county bibliographers' libraries ? The Editob. " BRUTUS."—This was the bardic title of David Owen, Nonconformist and Conformist, who lies buried in Llywel Churchyard, Breconshire. In the year 1826 Richard Jones, of Dolgelly, printed for nim a first part of a Welsh work called " Y Bla- guryn " : this part consisted of 32 pages octavo, and was to be continued. Can any of your readers in¬ form me if the work was continued beyond this first part? And, if so, how many more parts were published ? Book Worm. "EPTNT" OR "EPPYNT"?—As the County Times has a wide circulation in this county, I hope you will allow it to be used as a medium for your Welsh readers to ascertain the correct way of spelling "Epynt" or "Eppynt," a hill in this county extending from the Sugarloaf, in Carmarthen¬ shire, to Llyswen, on the border of Radnorshire, upwards of 30 miles in length, and which can truly be called the Hill of the County. Eminent Welsh¬ men use Epynt, but I have been informed that the Ordnance Survey Department have decided to use Eppynt. I hope Welshmen will be jealous of a hill of such magnitude that it shall retain its right mean¬ ing and right way of spelling. We find in Wales several Welsh names of places having very appro¬ priate meanings, which have been corrupted and Anglicised, and in consequence have entirely lost their meaning. Wm. Smith.
