The Gommittee held on Saturday morning presented a vote of thanks to Rev. John Farrar, who is this year becoming supernumerary, and to whose excellent long career a great number seemed anxious to give testimony. He still looks hale and fresh, although he has travelled some55 years, and is now 75 or 76 years of age. Another incident was a speech from Mr. Percy Bunting condemning the use of the Contemporary Review in the Institution at Headingly, and made some stringent remarks on the policy of permitting the young men to take poison in order to give the tutors an opportunity of administering the antidote. After dinner, Mr. Lewis and self went up to see the Clifton Bridge, ẃalked over it and the Downs, then went to my lodgings to tea; after that walked to the City to see the old chapel which was the first ever built by Mr. Wesley, and which is now in the possession of the Welsh Calvinists. The woman in charge came through the premises with us ánd had her speech ready, beginning as soon as we entered, saying, "This was Mr. Wesley's dining-room, this his study, and the room beyond his bedroom, so that from his bedroom he could come direct to his study, and thence to his pulpit."
